Privacy Policy

This page explains how ECHO Next handles user data in the Windows desktop app.

Last updated: 2026-06-07

Overview

ECHO Next is a desktop music player built around your local music library. The app can scan music folders selected by you and read audio tags, artwork, playback history, playlists, and app settings to provide local playback, library management, search, lyrics, MV matching, network metadata candidates, plugins, and device connection features.

ECHO Next does not sell user data, does not include an advertising tracking SDK, and does not upload your full local music library to official ECHO servers.

Data We Process

Network Features

Basic local playback in ECHO Next does not depend on online services. Some optional features may access third-party services, such as update checks, lyrics lookup, artwork or metadata candidates, public playlist import, remote media servers, plugin-declared network capabilities, or third-party accounts such as Spotify that you configure.

When you use these features, related requests may send search terms, track titles, artists, albums, duration, URLs, account authorization state, or device network addresses to the relevant service. Third-party services handle data according to their own privacy policies and terms.

Where Data Is Stored

ECHO Next usually stores its library database, settings, cache, and plugin data in the current Windows user's app data directory. Portable or custom installation and launch modes may use a different location. During uninstall, you can use the uninstaller options to remove app cache, configuration, or all app data. These actions do not delete your original music files from disk.

Plugins and Third-Party Integrations

ECHO Next supports local plugins and third-party integrations. Plugins declare permissions, and the app exposes a limited API within controlled boundaries. Plugins that you install, enable, or configure may process library summaries, network requests, plugin settings, or their own local storage data. Only install plugins from sources you trust.

Data Sharing

ECHO Next does not actively sell or rent user data. Unless you choose to use network features, third-party accounts, plugins, remote sources, issue reports, or update downloads, official ECHO services do not receive your local library content. To provide features you choose, data may be sent to the relevant third-party service, download mirror, update server, or local/remote server configured by you.
